Routine eye exams are a crucial part of ensuring your eyes are healthy. A comprehensive eye exam will ensure you see your best and detect eye diseases immediately.
According to the American Optometric Association, everyone between 18 and 64 should have an eye exam every two years. You should receive annual eye exams starting at age 65. For the best eye health, we at Frisco Family Eye Care in Frisco, Texas, advise that you come in for an eye checkup at least once a year.
We can discuss the most effective exam schedule for you when you visit our clinic for an eye exam. If you experience any of the following issues with your eye health, you may need to see the optometrist more frequently:
At Frisco Family Eye Care, we provide comprehensive care for many conditions that affect the eyes. Examples include:
Services for these conditions would be billed to your medical insurance instead of your vision insurance plan. A good rule of thumb is that if your problem can be treated with glasses or contact lenses, it's a vision problem and thus billed to your vision insurance. Otherwise, the condition is likely medical and will be billed to the appropriate medical plan.
A comprehensive contact lens evaluation is performed on all patients that require a contact lens prescription. The assessment is in addition to the Comprehensive Eye Examination. The exam consists of an ocular health assessment, corneal curvature measurements, topography, an evaluation of the fit of the lenses on the eyes, and follow-up visits to determine the long-term vision and comfort of the lenses.
If your appointment includes a new contact lens evaluation, please click on the instructional video below for an introduction to contact lens insertion and removal.
